NextGeneration CM/ECF

The Federal Judiciary has developed a Next Generation (NextGen) Case Management / Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system that will brings new functionality that eventually will allow users to maintain a single login and password for electronic filing, PACER access, and billing for PACER and filing fees and viewing documents in all federal courts (bankruptcy, district, and appellate). This one-time sign in will allow access to all courts in which you have permission to file.  Our Court will go live on NextGen CM/ECF on January 13, 2020.  If you have a filing account for CM/ECF you need to take action now and after the upgrade is complete.

Get your own individual PACER account  (PDF)

You must have your own PACER account, which will be linked to your CM/ECF filing account after NextGen implemention. CM/ECF users will not be able touse shared PACER accounts.

If you already have your own PACER account and it is a 6 character account (2 letters followed by 4 numbers) you have to upgrade it.

Current CM/ECF login and password

You have to know both your current CM/ECF login and password.  If you have it saved in your internet browser and don't remember it, please reset the password here now so you have that ready for the upgrade in January.

Change default PACER login after PACER account upgrade

After upgrading from a Legacy PACER account to an Upgraded PACER account, it may be necessary to link your new PACER credentials to your Current Gen CM/ECF account (if your old credentials were linked as your default PACER login).

You will need both your upgraded PACER login and password, and your ECF login and password, for this process.  If you have not obtained your own PACER account, or if you have your own PACER account but you haven't upgraded it, see the information in the column to the left.

 

PACER Administrative Accounts (PAAs)

Firms can set up a PACER Administrative Account (PAA) to manage all their user accounts and have central billing for PACER access fees.
