NextGeneration CM/ECF

The Federal Judiciary has developed a Next Generation (NextGen) Case Management / Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system that brings new functionality.  It will allow users to maintain a single login and password for electronic filing, PACER access, and billing for PACER and filing fees and viewing documents in all federal courts (bankruptcy, district, and appellate). This single login and password will allow access to all courts in which you have permission to file.  Our Court will go live on NextGen CM/ECF on January 13, 2020.  If you have a filing account for CM/ECF you need to take action now and after the upgrade is complete.

What Do I Need To Do NOW?

What Do I Need To Do In The Coming Weeks

Scenario I:
"I have my own individual PACER login (not your password)  consisting of eight characters or more."   You are ready! No action required.

Scenario II:
"I have an individual PACER login (not your password) that is exactly six characters. (i.e. LP1234)".  You must upgrade your PACER account

Scenario III:
"I share a PACER account."  In Next Gen, your filing account will be the PACER login, and you can't use a shared PACER account. You must register for a new PACER account.

Scenario IV:
"I DO NOT have a PACER account." You must register for a new PACER account.

After upgrading or getting a new PACER account,  link your new PACER credentials to your existing CM/ECF account.

You need to know both your current CM/ECF login and password.  If you have it saved in your internet browser and don't remember it, please reset the password here now so you have that ready for the upgrade in January.

What Do I Need To Do On January 13, 2020?
You will link your upgraded PACER account to your CM/ECF account using your current CM/ECF password. Users will NOT be able to file in NextGen until their CM/ECF account is linked to their upgraded individual PACER account.

PACER Administrative Accounts (PAAs)

Firms can set up a PACER Administrative Account (PAA) to manage all their user accounts and have central billing for PACER access fees. The PAA account is a separate account used solely to manage accounts for your firm. Click on the following links to read more about PAAs or to register for a PAA account:
